Senior Research Fellow - ODI Europe

Claire Kumar is a Senior Research Fellow at ODI Europe. She coordinates ODI Europe's research portfolio, focusing on migration, labour mobility, and human mobility in urban settings. Claire has led extensive research on public attitudes and narratives around refugees and migrants across 11 European countries. She also works on the Mayors’ Dialogue platform, facilitating research and technical exchange among 20 cities across Europe and Africa.

Before joining ODI, Claire worked as a policy researcher and advisor, consulting for organizations like UNICEF, Oxfam, and Save the Children on social and economic policy issues. She has over 25 years of experience in international development, with a particular focus on inequality and fiscal policies in Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa. Claire holds a Master’s degree in Development Management from the London School of Economics and an undergraduate degree in European Law and French from the University of Exeter.
