Gavin Bridge's research interests include the spatial and temporal dynamics of extractive industries, primarily oil, gas, and mining. He is also a fellow of the Durham Energy Institute.
He has supervised several PhD students on topics such as the politics of nature and mining the Amazon, the socio-spatial and socio-technical implications of incorporating renewable energy projects into the energy system, and the political ecology of natural gas extraction in Southern Bolivia.
His research addresses questions of property, access, and control associated with emergent geographies of resource production and consumption, including the political ecologies of resource scarcity and security.
