Simon Potter is a professor of modern history at the University of Bristol, specializing in the intertwined histories of British media and empire. His research explores how newspapers, radio, and television—especially the BBC—shaped imperial and global networks from the late 19th century to the present. He has led major projects on transnational broadcasting and authored influential works like This is the BBC and The Wireless World. Beyond his scholarship, he directs the South, West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership and is active in postgraduate supervision and research ethics.
